Ford Focus ST – Police Patrol Vehicle

FOLLOWING ITS movie debut in the UK crime thriller legend The Sweeney, the all-new Ford Focus ST has taken on its next starring role – this time as a police patrol vehicle.

While the five-door hot hatch used by Flying Squad detectives Regan and Carter was unmarked, this estate version gets the full law enforcement livery.

The one-off demonstrator has been developed and engineered at Ford Special Vehicle Preparations.  Equipped as a compact traffic car, it meets the latest National Policing Improvement Agency standards for fast response vehicles inside and out. The light bar on the roof is all-LED, and the dashboard is fitted with a mobile data terminal and screen to illustrate the Focus ST’s versatility for multi-role police use.

Ford spokesman Terry Adams said: “With the Focus ST being seen so publicly on cinema screens nationwide, the timing for this ‘official’ version couldn’t be better. The car’s crime-fighting talents have been shown off to police transport managers and they’ve taken bookings for demonstrations.”

Also available for the public to buy, the all-new Focus ST comes in five less-than-covert colours including Tangerine Scream and Spirit Blue.

The car’s 2.0-litre 247 bhp EcoBoost engine means it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 154 mph. The hatchback is priced from £21,995 with the estate costing from £23,095.
